PMD Forecasts Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm For Various Parts Of Country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper and Central Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. Isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also expected during this period.
Light rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are anticipated in a few areas of North Balochistan, South Punjab, and Upper Sindh. Meanwhile, hot and dry weather conditions are likely to prevail in other parts of the country.
The synoptic situation indicates the influence of a westerly wave affecting the upper and central regions of Pakistan, which is expected to persist for the next two to three days.
In the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather was predominant across most parts of the country, with central and southern areas experiencing very high temperatures.
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Islamabad, North Balochistan, and Kashmir. Recorded rainfall includes Bannu 24mm, Dir 14mm, Malam Jabba 8mm, Kakul 7mm, Balakot 5mm, Saidu Sharif 4mm, Kalam, Chitral 3mm, and Drosh 2mm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Islamabad (Zero point 15mm, Saidpur 11mm, Golla 08mm, Bokra 07mm), Rawalpindi (Kachahri 11mm, Chaklala 14mm, Shams Abad 5mm), Murree 5mm, Sialkot 3mm, and Attock 2mm in Punjab; Rawalakot 20mm, Kotli 15mm, Garhi Dupatta 5mm, and Muzaffarabad (Airport 4mm, City 3mm) in Kashmir; Kalat 3mm and Barkhan 2mm in Balochistan.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Jacobabad 48°C, Larkana 47°C, and Dadu 46°C.
