Peshawar Zone Wins Trophy Of KP HED Inter-College Girls Games
Peshawar Zone clinched the trophy of the Directorate of Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by securing 41 points in the HED Girls Inter-College Games, which concluded here at City Gulbahar Girls College on Wednesday
Peshawar Zone emerged victorious in the Directorate of Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa trophy by accumulating 41 points in the HED Girls Inter-College Games held at City Gulbahar Girls College on Wednesday.
In the overall zone competitions, City Gulbahar Girls College secured 21 points, Frontier College for Women Peshawar recorded 16 points, and Girls College Bacha Khan garnered 10 points, collectively totaling 41 points. Girls College Haripur Hazara Zone secured 28 points, earning the second position, while Bannu Zone secured the third position.
The Chief Guest at the event was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Department (HED), Meena Khan Afridi. Also present were Director Higher Education Dr. Fareed Ullah Shah, Principal and Provincial President Sports Committee Professor Rabia Sikandar, and various other officials and dignitaries.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a Naat Sharif and the National Anthem.
Minister Meena Khan Afridi highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stressing equal opportunities for both genders in sports. He announced free education for orphaned children and females up to intermediate grades and urged students to focus on both academics and sports.
The Minister commended the organizing committee for hosting various games involving 324 male and female colleges across eight zones in the province. He emphasized the values instilled by sports, including discipline, unity, and acceptance of defeat and victory.
Meena Khan Afridi announced plans to restart projects related to sports infrastructure development and increase cash prizes for winners in future games. He assured addressing the shortage of teaching staff in colleges and fulfilling genuine demands of colleges on a priority basis.
He emphasized the importance of youth sports in promoting fitness and healthy decision-making, highlighting its immediate and long-term benefits for individuals, families, and communities.
At the conclusion, the Minister awarded the general trophy to Govt College Peshawar and presented trophies to winners and runners-up in various sports categories, including cricket and badminton.
