The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted intermittent rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with snowfall in mountainous regions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, and northern Balochistan within the next 24 hours.
Additionally, there is a possibility of hailstorms during this period. Heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Furthermore, dust storms or winds causing dust to rise are expected in southern regions of the country.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may lead to landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan, potentially affecting vulnerable areas during the night of March 29 and March 30.
Windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning pose risks to standing crops, loose structures such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to exercise caution during this wet period.
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is impacting the western and upper regions of the country and is expected to persist in the upper parts until March 31st.
