PTI Leader Rauf Hassan Attacked In Islamabad
Rauf Hassan, the PTI Secretary Information, was injured in an attack by unidentified individuals in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The attack occurred as Rauf Hassan was leaving the office of a local private TV station after participating in a program. He was assaulted with knives by unknown assailants.
Footage of the attack quickly surfaced and went viral on social and traditional media, with many people sharing it on WhatsApp. The attackers intercepted him while he was on his way back from the TV program and also beat him.
Bystanders quickly intervened upon witnessing the assault and managed to rescue him.
The PTI leader was taken to the hospital for medical care.
“I received a cut on my face from a sharp edge,” Rauf Hassan stated, adding that four individuals attacked him as he was heading to his car. “The attackers fled the scene as people gathered,” he added.
PTI leaders strongly condemned the attack on their colleague, and opposition leaders in the Senate staged a walkout in protest. Presiding Officer Senate Sherry Rehman demanded a report on the attack on Rauf Hassan.
