Punjab CM Chairs Review Meeting On Rehabilitation Of Roads, BHUs And RHCs
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directs to complete Lahore Ring Road SL-3 project as soon as possible, besides taking immediate steps, in collaboration with the federal government, for the construction of SL-4 at the earliest.
“Transparency must be guaranteed in the construction and renovation of roads and hospitals,” stated Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
“I will personally oversee these projects,” CM Maryam announced during a review session regarding the rehabilitation of roads, Basic Health Units (BHUs), and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) throughout Punjab, held on Wednesday.
The Punjab CM instructed authorities to expedite the completion of the Lahore Ring Road SL-3 project and to promptly initiate steps, in collaboration with the Federal government, for the construction of SL-4.
During the meeting, proposals for the construction of the Deepalpur-Layyah Mega Road and other road projects were also discussed. The CM instructed for the planting of trees along roadways, including the planting of 100,000 trees along the Gujranwala-Lahore Expressway.
Earlier, Madam Chief Minister received a briefing on the “Sarkein Bahaal…Punjab Khushhal (Roads Restored…Punjab Prosperous) Programme,” which has initiated the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of 590 arterial and connector roads across Punjab.
Currently, four roads have been fully rehabilitated, with work underway on five others. Construction progress is reported to be in full swing on roads including Muridke-Narowal, Painsara-Shorkot, Jhangra-Ahmedpur Sharqia, Chawinda-Sabz Pir, and Zafar Wall. It was highlighted that the Bahawalpur to Jhangra East route is poised to become Punjab’s most picturesque expressway. Additionally, it was briefed that an investor conference is scheduled for May to discuss the construction of the Multan-Vihari Expressway.
The Chief Minister was also informed that the construction and maintenance of health centers in Phulnagar, Manga, Shamke Bhattian, and Ferozwala have been completed, with ongoing work on others. She directed for the prompt completion of health center upgrades.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Sohaib Ahmed Malik, Chairman Planning and Development Board, and Secretary Construction and Works were among those present at the meeting.
