On Tuesday, Pakistan called for an enhancement of information integrity on digital platforms, as stated by Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, during a statement at the final Interactive Dialogue on the Code of Conduct for Information Integrity on Digital Platforms in New York.
Ambassador Jadoon underscored the critical importance of combatting disinformation and fake news to safeguard human rights and promote equitable access to digital resources.
He emphasized the imperative of protecting the rights of individuals under foreign occupation, condemning censorship, internet blackouts, and the dissemination of fake news by occupation forces as efforts to undermine legitimate freedom movements.
Additionally, Ambassador Jadoon highlighted the digital divide in developing countries like Pakistan, emphasizing the necessity for investment in infrastructure and capacity-building programs to enhance digital literacy and access.
