Punjab College Clinch Victory In Tournament Final
Punjab College won by six wickets in the tournament final against GCU, on the back of commendable performances by Haider Shahjahan and Abu Marsad to help complete the target in 18.4 overs.
On Day 17 of the Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup, the Lahore leg of the tournament reached its climax, featuring the final match between Government College University (GCU) and Punjab College. The intense showdown took place at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, drawing a crowd that included Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi.
Prior to the final, Shalimar College emerged victorious against MAO College in a thrilling match held at the same venue.
In the tournament final, Punjab College secured a resounding victory by six wickets over GCU, propelled by outstanding performances from Haider Shahjahan and Abu Marsad. Haider Shahjahan led the charge with a notable innings of 62 runs off 49 deliveries, featuring seven boundaries and one six, while Abu Marsad contributed significantly with 46 runs from 33 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes. Their combined efforts enabled Punjab College to chase down the target in 18.4 overs.
Earlier in the match, Punjab College’s bowlers put up a commendable display, restricting GCU to 159-5 despite a remarkable century by Mohammad Ayyaz, who scored 100 runs off 67 deliveries, including 10 boundaries and five sixes. Salman Aslam was the standout bowler for Punjab College, claiming two wickets for just 11 runs, while Adil Munir, Ahmed Arif, and Mohammad Junaid each took one wicket apiece.
In the latest matches, Punjab College emerged victorious over GCU by six wickets. GCU posted a total of 159-5 in their allotted 20 overs, with Mohammad Ayyaz shining with a century, scoring 100 runs, supported by Mohammad Ahsan with an unbeaten 17 runs. Salman Aslam was the standout bowler for Punjab College, claiming 2 wickets for just 11 runs. In response, Punjab College chased down the target of 162 runs, reaching 162-4 in 18.4 overs, powered by Haider Shahjahan’s 62 runs and Abu Marsad’s 46 runs. Waseem Haider and Ali Hamza managed to take one wicket each for GCU.

In another match, Shalimar College secured a victory over Government MAO College by 19 runs. Shalimar Graduate College struggled to 137 all out in 18.5 overs, with Usman Ali top-scoring with 41 runs and Tayyab Mehmood contributing 18 runs. Faizan Bilal and Anees ur Rehman led the bowling attack for MAO College, each claiming three wickets. However, Shalimar’s bowlers, including Zahoor Ali, Mohammad Mubeen, and Bilal Moon, fought back to restrict MAO College to 118-8 in 20 overs.
In the match between Government MAO Graduate College and Superior College, MAO Graduate College posted a total of 118-8 in their allotted 20 overs. Hassan Zulfiqar was the top scorer with 39 runs, supported by Mohammad Yousaf with an unbeaten 15 runs. Superior College’s bowlers Mohammad Mubeen, Zahoor Ali, and Mohammad Bilal Moon all claimed two wickets each, contributing to the effective bowling performance.
