Shadab Khan has been named the captain of the PSL 9 Team of the Tournament, after a thorough selection process overseen by Usman Wahla, PCB Director – International Cricket, along with distinguished independent members Danny Morrison, Mark Butcher, Tariq Saeed, and Urooj Mumtaz.
The selection criteria considered various aspects including consistency, impact on the team, overall performance, and team balance.
Shadab Khan, aged 25, played a crucial role in leading Islamabad United to their third title, earning the Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding all-round performance. He amassed 305 runs and claimed 14 wickets in 12 matches.
Joining him from United are Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah.
Imad’s outstanding performance in the final, where he took 5 wickets and contributed 19 runs, played a crucial role in securing victory. Meanwhile, Naseem Shah, aged 21, made a triumphant return from injury, displaying an impressive tally of 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.
Saim Ayub’s outstanding performances with both bat and ball earned him the title of the tournament’s all-rounder.
Emerging talent Muhammad Irfan Khan from Karachi Kings secured his place in the team with his impressive performance, scoring 171 runs and taking 8 catches. Meanwhile, Babar Azam from Peshawar Zalmi, leading the batting charts with an impressive 569 runs, and Saim Ayub, showcasing remarkable all-round abilities with 345 runs and 8 wickets, were also included.
The Multan Sultans, making their fourth appearance in the final, dominated the lineup with five players in the XI, including Usman Khan, Chris Jordan, and David Willey, along with notable contributors Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed. Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of the Sultans, was honored with the title of being named the 12th man.
