Punjab Govt Decides To Provide Free Internet To Schools Across Province
The sources say that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a comprehensive plan from the relevant authorities in this regard.
The Punjab government has decided to introduce free internet access in schools across the province, according to sources familiar with the decision. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has requested recommendations for implementing this initiative.
“The chief minister has called for a comprehensive plan to offer free internet services in all government schools throughout Punjab. The relevant department has been instructed to prepare a plan accordingly,” the sources stated.
In addition to schools, the chief minister has also launched free Wi-Fi services at 50 locations in Lahore to ensure internet access for citizens. In a high-level meeting held in Lahore with Punjab Information Technology Board officials, the CM discussed furthering the implementation of the free Wi-Fi pilot project in the city.
“The aim of this initiative is to provide free Wi-Fi access at various public locations to facilitate communication among citizens,” the sources explained. They mentioned that this initiative would expand to encompass 516 locations in Lahore.
CM Maryam instructed IT department officials to prioritize providing free internet services at educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands.
It’s worth noting that the provincial government has initiated the implementation of this project through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
