PM Visits Martyred Customs Official’s Residence In Abbottabad
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasizes elimination of smuggling is imperative to strengthen the economy.
The government remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the scourge of smuggling and establish the country as a haven of peace.
These remarks were made during a visit by the Prime Minister to the residence of Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi in Abbottabad today. Inspector Tirmizi was martyred during an operation against smugglers in Dera Ismail Khan.
During the visit, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar and Amir Muqam, offered prayers for the martyr and presented a cheque to the grieving family as part of the Shuhada package.
The Prime Minister stressed that eliminating smuggling is vital to bolster the economy. He emphasized that by curbing smuggling, the nation can save billions of dollars, which can then be utilized for the country’s progress and prosperity.
Shehbaz Sharif also stated that he has instructed the Interior Minister to closely coordinate with provincial governments to combat smuggling effectively.
He commended Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir for the support provided by the Pakistan Army in dealing with this menace.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi, asserting that his sacrifice will not be in vain. Tirmizi was hailed as a national hero, and his sacrifice will always be remembered.
In announcing the Shuhada package, Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that the package announced for Punjab province will be replicated at the federal level. He detailed that families of those in the rank of Sepoy will receive a cash prize of ten million rupees along with 13.5 million rupees for housing. For the rank of Inspector, a cash grant of 15 million rupees will be provided, along with 25 million rupees for housing. Additionally, the families of martyrs will receive free education and health services.
