Iranian President Arrives In Karachi
President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi is scheduled to meet with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah along with a visit to Quaid’s mausoleum to pay his respects.
Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Karachi on Tuesday, following visits to Islamabad and Lahore. Similar to the provincial government of Punjab, the Sindh government declared a local holiday to reduce public inconvenience. Additionally, authorities implemented stringent security measures, including air surveillance and temporary suspension of internet services during the president’s visit.
Raisi kicked off his official visit to Pakistan by arriving in Islamabad on Monday, marking the first visit by a head of state since the February 8 general election. Local holidays were announced in Lahore and Karachi to lessen public disruption.
In Karachi, President Raisi’s itinerary includes meetings with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, as well as a visit to Quaid’s mausoleum to pay his respects.
Earlier in the day, President Raisi received a warm welcome from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz upon his arrival at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The president held separate meetings with CM Maryam and Governor Baligh Ur Rehman.
Governor Rehman hosted a luncheon in honor of the visiting delegation.
Recognizing the profound impact of Allama Iqbal’s poetry, President Raisi conveyed Iran’s admiration for the renowned poet of the East. He reiterated Iran’s support for Pakistan on the Palestine issue and expressed a dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector.
Additionally, President Raisi paid tribute to Allama Iqbal by visiting his mausoleum in Lahore, where he laid a floral wreath and offered prayers. He expressed his admiration for Iqbal’s literary legacy in the visitors’ book.
Furthermore, President Raisi visited the historic Government College University (GCU) in Lahore, where he engaged with students and faculty. He emphasized the enduring historical, religious, and cultural bonds between Pakistan and Iran, stressing the importance of nurturing centers of arts and education. President Raisi highlighted the significance of prioritizing arts, sciences, and technology for national progress.
