A government’s spokesperson on Wednesday said the allegations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Sher Afzal Marwat against Saudi Arabia was a “heinous attempt” to impact the relations between the two brotherly countries<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, a government spokesperson denounced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat’s accusations against Saudi Arabia as a “malicious attempt” to disrupt the strong relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n
Barrister Aqeel Malik, spokesperson on Legal Affairs, stated that Marwat’s remarks came at a sensitive time, coinciding with a visit from a high-ranking Saudi delegation to Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Sher Afzal Marwat, a PTI leader, had alleged that Saudi Arabia played a part in the purported regime change operation in 2022, which resulted in the ousting of the PTI government through a vote of no-confidence.<\/p>\n
Barrister Aqeel characterized Marwat’s statement as a sinister plot aimed at hindering Saudi investment in Pakistan and destabilizing the national economy.<\/p>\n
“Regrettably, PTI harbors individuals like Sher Afzal Marwat, who engage in reckless behavior on both traditional and social media platforms,” he added.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that PTI consistently sought to undermine relationships with friendly nations. “PTI’s track record shows that the party consistently acted against Pakistan’s interests,” he remarked.<\/p>\n
He further asserted that PTI plotted against the government’s earnest endeavors to renegotiate an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to avert economic default.<\/p>\n
Additionally, he noted that PTI dispatched letters to the IMF and organized protest rallies outside the organization’s headquarters.<\/p>\n
Barrister Aqeel highlighted several instances where PTI engaged in unfounded allegations, such as the cipher conspiracy, staging sit-ins during the visit of the Chinese president, and anti-China rhetoric regarding the Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).<\/p>\n
He underscored that a party capable of setting martyrs’ memorials ablaze could undertake actions detrimental to national interests.<\/p>\n
The government’s spokesperson remarked that after a deliberate act by its leader, PTI later distanced itself from the statement, deeming it “utterly ridiculous”.<\/p>\n
“PTI’s habit of working against Pakistan’s interests and subsequently backtracking is well-known,” he remarked. “The masters of U-turns initially violated the Constitution by dissolving the National Assembly and now seek to sow chaos under the guise of protecting it.”<\/p>\n
