An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf\u2019s former MNA Aliya Hamza and social media activist Sanam Javed to Mianwali police on a one-day transit remand in connection with a new case of May 9 riots<\/p>\n
On Monday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted a one-day transit remand to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf\u2019s former MNA Aliya Hamza and social media activist Sanam Javed in connection with a new case related to the May 9 riots. The remand was issued by the ATC, allowing the Mianwali police to take custody of both individuals.<\/p>\n
Prior to this, the Mianwali police had apprehended both suspects and presented them before ATC Judge Arshad Javed regarding their involvement in the case.<\/p>\n
The police filed an application for transit remand, citing that the accused were arrested in connection with a case involving the torching of the Kamar Mashani police station in Mianwali during the protests on May 9, 2023.<\/p>\n
The police requested the court to grant transit of the accused for their presentation before the relevant court in Sargodha.<\/p>\n
In response, the court approved a one-day transit remand of the accused and instructed the police to present them before the appropriate court on April 2.<\/p>\n
The Mianwali police had apprehended the accused in connection with the case prior to their release from Kot Lakhpat Jail, where they had been granted bail in a case involving the attack on the Shadman police station on March 27.<\/p>\n
